HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

There's nothing like a high school setting on Valentine's Day...the most elaborate balloon bouquets, stuffed animals and candy are seen floating around campus!  However, in the Media Center, we are promoting the love of reading this month with a selection of romance novels, and believe it or not, even some of our boys are looking at the display too!
Vinnie and I are celebrating our 40th Valentine's Day together this year...Happy Valentine's Day to my sweet husband! (If you are doing the math, we started dating in the Fall of 1972...)
Here's a special wish for "happy hearts" to my dear parents...who have celebrated even more Valentine's Days together!
and, last but not least, these two little sweethearts in our lives give us happy hearts all year long!!  They recently celebrated their birthdays at a party. Landon is 2 and Cailyn is 4 now!  We love you!!

NEW YEAR "NEWS"

It's time to do a January blog, (since we are almost a week into the month of February.)  January flew by! It was a month that included a week of frigid weather (for Arizona), and a month of weekends when I tried to clean out closets.  Vince and I also worked in the garage, finding all sorts of treasures...especially enjoyed discovering some favorite "old toys" that we had packed away from our kids' childhood, in hopes that our future grandchildren could enjoy them also.  The future has arrived....
For example, Landon can play with his daddy's old Tonka trucks....
It proved to be good timing, as Cailyn and Landon were excited to see some "new things" one Sunday visit...and it's amazing how "classic" some of these toys are! (This doll house is "new" but is a sweet photo of Cailyn I wanted to share!)
There are a few toys/games that will be stored for awhile until the children are a little older; but after 14 years packed away in our Gilbert home's garage, we were relieved and surprised that the heat had not ruined them.  Even the Fisher-Price record player still plays the records!  "What's a record, Mimi?"

We enjoyed some family gatherings on Sundays in January,
reading new library books to the children, cooking up something new in the kitchen...

helping Mimi "wash dishes" and "sweeping the floor" are Landon's new favorites....plus
eating ice cream cones is always a favorite thing at Mimi's house too!

Vince and I went to see a few movies in January; Lincoln and Les Miserables were excellent!

And now February is here, a month filled with special birthdays for special people!! And Lent is just around the corner....didn't I just finish packing Christmas decorations away??
